At ACSIS Life Coaching, we believe achieving your goals isn’t just about setting them—it’s about cultivating the mindset to adapt, grow, and thrive amidst life’s challenges. This belief is deeply rooted in the experiences of our co-founders, Sam and Lloyd, whose backgrounds in the Royal Navy and leadership roles shaped their understanding of agility and resilience.

What Is an Agile Mindset?

An agile mindset centres on flexibility, resilience, and continuous improvement. Although it originated in software development, agility applies to all aspects of life and personal growth.

Similar to Carol Dweck’s concept of the “Growth Mindset”, agility emphasises adaptability, learning from feedback, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Key agile principles resonate strongly in life coaching:

  1. Empowerment: Encouraging ownership of your goals, akin to self-organizing Scrum teams.

  2. Iteration: Progress comes through small, measured steps, with room for reflection and adaptation.

  3. Transparency: Honest reflection helps you gain clarity and stay accountable.

  4. Collaboration: Coaching is a partnership where coach and client co-create solutions.

Lessons from the Military and Beyond

For Sam and Lloyd, agility is more than a buzzword—it’s a way of life.

  • Sam’s Agile Coaching Journey. During her Royal Navy service, Sam helped agile teams navigate complex transformations, from large ERP implementations to government-wide people portfolios. By embracing principles like Kaizen (continuous improvement), Sam learned that asking what can we improve? sparks powerful results.

  • Lloyd’s Leadership Experience. In the Navy and later in the police force, Lloyd led teams in high-stakes environments where adaptability was key. His ability to remain agile—making quick decisions while staying focused on long-term objectives—has been instrumental in building trust and achieving success.

Agility in Life Coaching

At ACSIS, we weave agile principles into our coaching practice to empower clients to:

  1. Adapt to Change: Face challenges head-on with confidence and flexibility.

  2. Embrace Feedback: Use feedback as a tool for learning and improvement.

  3. Stay Resilient: Pivot and reassess when life takes unexpected turns.

  4. Prioritise Progress: Break down big goals into manageable, motivating steps.

Our coaching mirrors the iterative, collaborative nature of agile frameworks. Together, we’ll define your vision, break it into actionable goals, and continually refine your strategy to ensure progress.

The ACSIS Difference

Sam and Lloyd’s blend of military discipline and coaching expertise creates a unique approach. They understand that life rarely goes according to plan—but with the right mindset, you can adapt, overcome, and excel.

Whether you’re transitioning careers, striving for personal growth, or facing life’s uncertainties, an agile mindset will equip you to thrive.
